I was supprised: Our food is responsible for 1/3 of all greenhouse gasses.

Dear Guest

Welcome to my blog, and this, my first blog posting.

For years I have been working with IT solutions to calculating cost and nutrition for recipes in restaurants and canteens.

Then, not long ago, I stumbled over the information that food is responsible for 1/3 of all greenhouse gasses.

I was surprised, and it triggered me to research the climate problem further. In this research, I not only realized how real and urgent the problem is, but also that I, due to my work with food related IT systems, had the tools necessary to create an indicator that can help the food industry become even more climate aware.

We call the indicator “CO2tor”, and the first version is now ready in beta-version, and can be tried for free on www.inmsystems.com.
The model is described in two documents www.inmsystems.com/CO2tor_v2.xls and www.inmsystems.com/CO2tor_v2.doc.

The next steps are to refine the model, especially taking advantage of Carbon Food Print information from producers of ingredients, and further validating the assumptions made.

Should you have any questions or points to make about this work, it will be highly appreciated. We have a strong commitment to securing the quality of the indicator, and are aware that, it can best be accomplished by an open dialog.

Let me hear from you.
